The Ten Rules - A Lesbian Survival Guide   Tuesday, August 29, 2006       musical chimes

I found the following a few weeks ago on YouTube. It's rather hilarious. Plot outline: Ten Rules takes a look at the pitfalls and pratfalls that happen when your friends aren't just your friends - they're also your dating pool.

There are a few rules that are so dead on accurate. Here are the other parts.

The Following is One More Reason Why I Should Move out West   Monday, August 28, 2006       musical chimes

Do you think Peaches used the Thighmaster somewhere else? Holy Boobers!

Did you spot Kate Moennig in the crowd?

my life is like a soundtrack   Friday, August 25, 2006       musical chimes

Someone sent the question below a few weeks ago and I thought I might as well post it here since Men-in-Skirts has been traumatic for some of you.

You may have notices that I haven't posted a new SJR on Wednesday. I'm really busy at the moment and am spending most of my time being a nerd learning how to code this and that. I think the best part out of all of this coding business is when I finally figure this stuff out; I'll have a celebratory drink (I'm having one now). New SJR will be in the next two weeks. I'm also planning a spectacular party to take place in September. I get to wear a fancy dress. Last time I wore a fancy dress I was at a friends wedding many years ago.

Question: If you had to craft a soundtrack for your life, what would be your opening track, your revelation track, your first love track, and finally your end song?

My opening track: Time After Time – Cindy Lauper
My life changing track: Ain't Got No/I Got Life – Nina Simone
My first love track: Pain in My Heart – Otis Redding
My end song: End Game – John Barry

The Dolly Backpack   Wednesday, August 23, 2006       musical chimes

Fashion Trend Alert: Dolly Backpack

The metrosexual male is strong, revered and has perfect manicured nails. They prefer Kheil moisturizers, spa days and a full body wax. In the past few months, these men have been spotted around Manhattan sporting a Dolly Backpack.

These backpacks come in all different styles and colors. The above model is wearing a Lolly Dolly Backpack which is for the more carefree, pinkie in the air metrosexual male. The Dolly Backpack is manufactured by the makers of Skirt-n-Strut and has been making an impact in the fashion world with their Men in Skirts line since it's inception. Sarongs, Pareus and Kaftans have been worn by men in other parts of the world. Skirt-n-Strut's goal is to bring forth non-bifurcated garments for men to Western Society.

A representative of Skirt-n-Strut had this to say about the Dolly Backpack and their new marketing campaign:

"No man is ever complete without owning a Dolly Backpack and wearing one of our Braveheart skirts. We are pleased to announce that 50 cent will be the face of the Ms. Lulu Dolly Backpack this fall. We are very excited to have him on board. We have signed an exclusive contract with Mr. Cent and he will be wearing them on his upcoming tour. We feel that Mr. Cent will reach out to a new audience of men who are not ashamed to show off their gams. These men have a flair for the breezy life."

(Model: not 50 cent)

Skirt-n-Strut recently showcased in Milan and will soon be at Fashion Week in New York this September.

SJR #6 - They Cover Us   Thursday, August 17, 2006       musical chimes

Sizzurp

The original formula:

Promethazine w/Codeine syrup
Any fruit flavored soda
A jolly rancher

Put it all in a Styrofoam cup and enjoy. The codeine is mainly responsible for the euphoria felt after drinking sizzurp. Promethazine causes motor skill impairment, lethargy, and extreme drowsiness. If it doesn't have promethazine, it ain't real sizzurp.

DXM is not a component of sizzurp, although it may produce vaguely similar effects to the above recipe in doses ranging from 150 - 250 mg.

I drank a deuce (2 oz.) of sizzurp and got straight folded. (A PBWolf Reenactment)

You may ask yourself why the above has to do with the (late - apologies) radio show for this week. Well, I included a cover of Through The Wire in this show and needed a Kanye West image but for some strange reason I decided to look up 'sizzurp' instead. I had no idea they made this stuff. I proceeded to educated myself at Urban Dictionary. Anyway stay away from sizzurp or else you will enter the vortex.

Tupac Lives   Monday, August 14, 2006       musical chimes

I always knew of that possibility but now we have evidence. He wrote this song a long time ago. It was the doppest song he ever wrote in 1994. What do you think?

The last hot woman that graced this page was Sarah Shahi. I am making room for Jenny Lewis. You may have heard me gush about her on past podcasts. This woman is undeniably hotness times 46845.35.

For those of you who might not be aware of who Jenny Lewis is... I'll give you a brief bio.

SJR #5 - Neighborhood   Wednesday, August 09, 2006       musical chimes

So sorry for putting this out so late. I had minor technical difficulties. Permit me to bring you a short reference in literature using the word neighborhood:

The whole neighborhood abounds with local tales, haunted spots, and twilight superstitions; stars shoot and meteors glare oftener across the valley than in any other part of the country, and the nightmare, with her whole ninefold, seems to make it the favorite scene of her gambols. - The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving

The Playlist:

1. They Are Night Zombies!!! They Are Neighbors!! They Have Come Back From The Dead!! Ahhhh! - Sufjan Stevens
2. Les Os - The Unicorns
3. The High Party - Ted Leo & The Pharmacists

6. The Man Who Came To Stay - Babyshambles

10. Endless Shovel - Rogue Wave
11. Friction - Television
12. A Hit in Sweden - Say Hi To Your Mom
13. Did You See The Words - Amimal Collective

It's time the turn the lights out, and you'll want to keep it down!
