What's the word? Burn   Friday, July 28, 2006       musical chimes

This is my all time favorite Disney movie. I can't remember how many times I watched it when I was a kid. Last night while dealing with Round 3 of my insomnia, I caught up on all the old Disney cartoons I could remember. This scene still tugs the heart strings.

SJR # 3 - Warm Up Your Heart   Wednesday, July 26, 2006       musical chimes

It's been a long while since I've put up a new radio show. I don't like making promises but let me just say this: You will be greeted with a new radio show every Wednesday for the next two months. Awesome right? Of course it is because I say so. This session of SJR includes some of the most sincere songs to warm up your heart.

The Playlist:

1. Grace Cathedral Hill - The Decemberists
2. I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You - Colin Hay
3. Melt Your Heart - Jenny Lewis w/ The Watson Twins
4. They Don't Know - Ben Gibbard
5. Two-Headed Boy - Neutral Milk Hotel
6. True Love Will Find You In The End - Daniel Johnston
7. Archipelago - Mirah
8. Love The Same - Damien Jurado
9. Bitter - MeShell Ndegeocello
10. Help Is Round The Corner - Coldplay
11. Somebody Else's Clothes (live) - Jenny Lewis

Instead I relaxed under the shade with a book.

Exibit A - The ride that PBWolf did not go on. Would you go on that??

Exhibit B - The Wheel of WonderDeath. This ride seems like it's tame but it's NOT. My life flashed before my eyes. Maybe because that ride is soooo old. I feared some screws would come loose and send five 20-somethings into the crowd below.

Exibit C - The ride that PBWolf would never ever ever do.

Exhibit D -People in Motion

It's going to be 102 degrees tomorrow and I have to go out. If I don't blog within 4 days then I may be in the hospital recovering from heat exhaustion.

Sonic Jukebox Cast 4 - Italia Wins   Tuesday, July 11, 2006       musical chimes

Someone said Sunday was not a great day for sportsmanship.
Someone mastered the art of falling (un)gracefully.
Someone had blue lips for two hours.
Someone got an accidental tan.
Someone played the numbers game at a bar and won.
Someone met their soul mate.
Someone made a hard decision.
Someone made a podcast. (PodOmatic!)
Someone is wondering why Chris Isaak is on Jay Leno singing a song that came out 10 years ago.
Someone is wondering what ever happened to Linda Evangelista.
Someone likes to read magazines for the articles and not to look at the pictures.
Someone just had a chocolate ice cream bar.

Addendum:
Someone was stupid and forgot to mention Minnie-Sota, Vicky, Eldima, and Queen Wendipher on a cast.
Someone will be punished later for her negligence.
Someone realized that she doesn't believe in soul mates.

Three Things: Check it!   Friday, July 07, 2006       musical chimes

Last Friday, I received something in the mail which I had forgotten about. I had requested this months ago but didn't really think I'd get it. It'll just be placed in a box along with ticket stubs, photos and embarrassing items of my youth. Anyway here it is.

Moving along.

My 4th was spent in cabs going from one party to the next. Since I'm perpetually late, I did not arrive to my first destination until 8:00pm. Fireworks were to start around 9 or 9:30. After drinks number 1 - 4, whilst listening to a Belle & Sebastian member DJ, it was time to skedaddle to our next location. One quick stop at another bar and a change of clothes, we make it to our first rooftop party. By that time, the fireworks were already heard as we rang the buzzer. We make it upstairs and I have just enough time to snap the following.

Red, White and Blue.

Fireworks Galore.
Rooftop party number 2-4 was a blur. Skipping a request to attend an after-party, I was very surprised to be in bed before 3am.

The last thing I wanted to mention is that I recently found a cassette single of "When The Lights Go Out" by 5ive. I don't remember purchasing this but I guess I needed my fix in between all the 'NSync phenomenon at that time.

Baby, when the lights go out
I'll show you what it's all about
(Coming at you, girl)
(You're gonna like this, girl)
(Here we go)
(Check it)

Flashback: 1998 - PBW makes a mixtape of boy bands which included songs from Take That, Boyzone, 'NSync and 5ive. PBW secretly dances and knows every word by these bands.

(You may have noticed that I failed to mention Backstreet Boys above. I just was never a fan.)

Karate Kommandos   Thursday, July 06, 2006       musical chimes

During an early morning skype session, Fainty and I started looking up all the 80s cartoons we could remember. One thing led to another and I found Karate Kommandos. I could not believe I used to watch this Chuck Norris cartoon. I loved it even. Lame as this may sound but I was inspired to take up Karate (say it like Ross from Friends) . My mother thought otherwise. In fact, she laughed at me and told me to play Nintendo instead. No wonder I was able to finish Super Mario Bros. 2 within hours. If only I was able to learn the Karate back then. Who knew what I could be capable of now. I could have been PeanutButterWolf -- woman of action! PeanutButterWolf with her mighty ninja skills and lovely lady lumps! Yeah I like how that sounds.

Happy Birthday, America!   Tuesday, July 04, 2006       musical chimes

Hoping you have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Sonic Jukebox Cast 3 - PridePridePride   Saturday, July 01, 2006       musical chimes

Last weekend I attended the Pride March in NYC. This cast is about my experience there, how I realized I liked my best friend Molly, how I came out to my immediate family and whatnot.

Fellow Kelkians, do you have a coming out story you'd like to share? if you've yet to come out, is there one person in particular which you'd like to come out to first?
