On My Nightstand

Three Things: Check it!

Last Friday, I received something in the mail which I had forgotten about. I had requested this months ago but didn't really think I'd get it. It'll just be placed in a box along with ticket stubs, photos and embarrassing items of my youth. Anyway here it is.

Moving along.

My 4th was spent in cabs going from one party to the next. Since I'm perpetually late, I did not arrive to my first destination until 8:00pm. Fireworks were to start around 9 or 9:30. After drinks number 1 - 4, whilst listening to a Belle & Sebastian member DJ, it was time to skedaddle to our next location. One quick stop at another bar and a change of clothes, we make it to our first rooftop party. By that time, the fireworks were already heard as we rang the buzzer. We make it upstairs and I have just enough time to snap the following.

Red, White and Blue.

Fireworks Galore.
Rooftop party number 2-4 was a blur. Skipping a request to attend an after-party, I was very surprised to be in bed before 3am.

The last thing I wanted to mention is that I recently found a cassette single of "When The Lights Go Out" by 5ive. I don't remember purchasing this but I guess I needed my fix in between all the 'NSync phenomenon at that time.

Baby, when the lights go out
I'll show you what it's all about
(Coming at you, girl)
(You're gonna like this, girl)
(Here we go)
(Check it)

Flashback: 1998 - PBW makes a mixtape of boy bands which included songs from Take That, Boyzone, 'NSync and 5ive. PBW secretly dances and knows every word by these bands.

(You may have noticed that I failed to mention Backstreet Boys above. I just was never a fan.)

    Fellow NY'er... 'Sup?

I like your pictures as well. Where was the one of the fireworks taken? I like it. It looks like the chimney scene of Mary Poppins! Very cool!

Never was a Backstreet Boy's fan either. But I've never heard of 5ive. Hmmm.... top

Hey Kai! The fireworks one was taken on a rooftop near East 10th Street. The view was spectacular.

5ive is not even worth researching but i have to admit while typing my last post I had to listen to the single one last time. :D top

I can't see any pictures because this isn't my computer, but I'll see them in a few weeks.

Buttt....Is that your couch behind the Kate autographed picture? That couch looks really nice. (so does the picture but I think that goes without saying)
    Have a nice weekend. top

OMG, I had that exact same cd. Emphasis on "had". And I totally remember that song (unfortunately). It's kinda sad to admit that that's not the most embarrassing cd I've ever owned, lol. top

Ahh, I can’t refuse a dare. Ok, here’s a list of a few. Hopefully it won’t be too incriminating:

Aaron Carter - There was actual begging involved in the acquiring of this cd. I know, shameful. But I was young back then, so it’s excusable.

Céline Dion - I actually have too many to count. Let’s just say that if her CDs where eggs, I’m pretty sure I could almost fill a carton. In my defense, most of them were gifts from my grandmother, so they weren’t all acquired by will.

Spice Girls – I used to know every lyric to every song. I even had all the concert videos and their actual movie.

Others worth mentioning: Ace of Base, Men In Black Soundtrack, Space Jam Soundtrack (which got stolen by my sister), Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit, Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, LFO, Hanson

I think that’s enough embarrassment for now.

I can’t believe I’ve actually admitted to owning those. Oh well, like I said, I can’t refuse a dare. Hope you get a few good laughs at this embarrassing disclosure. Damn my honesty! top

wow therese! this is all very incriminating like you said.

    aaron carter? i'm without words.

celine dion & spice girls i could understand.

Ace of Base was the jam. (yes, i said it.)

I forgot about LFo. I was not a fan but I knew everything about them though.

And Hanson...that damn mmmmbop song was catchy. I thought taylor hanson was a girl so of course I had a crush on "her." Oh well. Isn't he married with 10 children? top
