Sky Phenomenon Monday, June 25, 2007 musical chimes
sky phenomenon
jens lekman
I'm standing here waiting for you to come
In the sky some kind of strange sky phenomenon
Feel strange to have you as a friend
But I'd rather be your friend
Then to never see you again
I'd rather be your friend
You stare at the sky, colours reflecting in your eye
Could it be what they call the northern light?
But here and at this time of year
It's like someone spilled a beer
All over the atmosphere
It's like someone spilled a beer
And I called out your name
Like the name of a coming hurricane
I called out your name
Like you call out when you're in hurt and pain
I called out your name
But you were caught in a heavenly silver rain
You and I are not the same
We're divided by the smoke of an aeroplane
Of an aeroplane
Flock of birds in the sky
Flying south, they know this place will die
And I wish they could take me with them
But I would not be accepted
'Cause I can't dance the funky chicken
I can't dance the funky chicken
I'm standing here waiting for you to come
In the sky some kind of strange
Sky phenomenon

i am about to sail Saturday, June 23, 2007 musical chimes
a list.
1. i have no explanation why i watched reno 911: miami three times the other night.
2. i'm anxious to meet my new student next week.
3. must remember rosenblatt stadium for next trivial pursuit game.
4. what happened to wired magazine? it's devoid of anything interesting. i think i shall cancel my subscription.
5. he's awesome.
6. jonathan safran foer has been put on the back burner, at least for this weekend, so i can finish some graphic novels. upon a recommendation, i quickly devoured Marjane Satrapi's graphic novels Persepolis and Persepolis 2, and then i immersed myself with Blankets by Craig Thompson, which was quite enjoyable and heartfelt. while i'm vacationing, David B.'s Epileptic will keep me company. if i can only get the image of Borat out of my head i would have finished JSF's book by now.
7. i am not enjoying this year's so you think you can dance cast as much as season 2.
8. coming home and seeing rhett miller on my tv screen made me happy this week.
9. while visiting sparky's blog, i found out about rilo kiley's upcoming album. EXCITED!!! i think sparks may be a bit more excited about JL and RK than me though. seriously.
10. my urkel moment of the week involved a chair and a bruised lip. don't ask.

The Invention Of Ordinary Everyday Things Tuesday, June 19, 2007 musical chimes
the invention of ordinary everyday things
the lucksmiths
When my friend comes over
We sit on the sofa
And most of our clothes are other people’s
With hairstyles the same as
The rich and the famous
We’re certainly no strangers
To pins and needles
She’s caught up completely
In afternoon TV
She smiles when she sees me
A sheepish grin
We might be dressed as
The young and the restless
But the one thing we’re best at
Is sleeping in
She’s OK occasionally
Not today, but wait and see
Now we’re talking
But look how we’re yawning
It’s one in the morning
And there’s two on the couch
A hand to hold or a comforting shoulder
It’s time that I told her I’m all talked out
She’s telling me she’s tired of relationships
And I’m bending bits of wire into paperclips

Summer Reading or How I Intend To Start A Book Club Without Really Starting One Friday, June 15, 2007 musical chimes
it's friday night and i'm going to get cozy with a book. have i told you about the time where on one summer day i watched C-SPANs coverage of the Book Expo? i spent the whole day watching interviews and jotting down all the names of all the books to read on a future date. this year i'm starting with two books for june, and if time permits, these may or may not carry over to july.
1. Everything is Illuminated - Johnathan Safran Foer
2. Second Harvest - Jean Giono
i'm thinking of reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini and Haruki Murakami's new book, After Dark, for july. in between these I've been lazily reading books on Nirvana and Joe Strummer. if you have a suggestion on what i should add to my list for next month let me know.

Lonestar
Mirah
Texas is a place where cowboys
Wear big hats and make lots of noise
Get along doggy, yippy-tie-tie-oh
Curious country, when can we go?
Lassoing my cowgirl dreams
And chasing down a tumbleweed
Bucking bronco cause a scene
Is Texas really as it seems?
Lonestar
I'm so far
You're so far
So good
So tell me all about your celebrated past
So tell me all about how long your battle lasts
Cause you're as big as texas, texas, texas
I've been riding hard all day
I'm saddle sore but i'm okay
I'll find a place to lay my head
The stars will be my feather bed
Texas is a shiny penny
On the street i'll wink at any
Cowboy hearted fool
Who drops his pants
And then drops out of school
Lonestar
I'm so far
You're so far
So good
So tell me all about your celebrated past
So tell me all about how long your battle lasts
Cause you're as big as texas, texas, texas, texas
Texas

one year and one day Monday, June 04, 2007 musical chimes
on a whim, i decided to start a blog, a podcast, and a radio show. it grew into something that was exciting and fun. i shared a bit about myself to you and all was receptive. now one year and one day later, i reflect on how great that year had been. such a ride. i'm not sure how this year will take form. at times things will be fairly quiet on this blog, lyrics will replace some of my thoughts, there might be a new cast or a radio show, some photography of my latest adventures and perhaps a drawing if i'm in the mood but it will still very much have that pbwolf touch. to all of you who've read, listened and posted comments, thank you.
buenos nachos.
SJR #12 - Technologic Friday, June 01, 2007 musical chimes
This toe-in-sand weather is excellent when you get a view such as the one above.
I worked on this show a few weeks ago but failed to put it up until now.
Happy listening.
